How do you guys store your stuff? As other collectors I'm sure you guys try to keep everything as nice as possible as well. I save all my boxes and EVERYTHING. As I've mentioned in a different post, I store all my dolls and accessories on shelves completely covering my entire large basement. As the LE girls become retired I put them in their original bexes, along with their accessories, to keep them nice. My mom says that if I am so concerned about keeping things nice I should never take them out of the boxes and never play with them or anything. ( I don't exactly PLAY with them, but rearrange their stuff) She has a point, but I like the way they look displayed. What do you guys think?

I understand what you mean about not wanting to mess up your dolls, but still wanting to enjoy them. Maybe you could buy a glass display case and set up your dolls and their accessories inside. That would be an enjoyable way for you to interact with them without having to worry much about damage--inside a display case, they won't even get dusty. Plus, you'll be able to see your dolls all the time.

I keep all my dolls out on display, LE's as well. Collecting for profit is one thing, and I do that as well, and these items are packed away; but dolls and accessories I collect to enjoy are all displayed. I use large oversized oak shelves in my living room for the historical dolls, my LE's are on shelving at the top of my master bedroom closet for now, and select dolls are on my bedroom dresser. All of my dolls remain in doll stands so they don't fall over. I accidentally tipped Marisol over one time and put a shiney spot on her face which took me forever to buff out, so since that day, all dolls went in doll stands purchased at Wal-Mart for $2 each. The dolls are up high enough my children can't reach them to play with them. If ever they wanted a play doll, I would happily find them one for play! My mom keeps telling me to put the dolls in our china cabinet behind the glass, but for some reason I can't stick them behind glass. I keep telling her I feel like they wouldn't be able to breathe... she and my husband think I've lost my mind. I keep a HUGE rubbermaid container and lid in the garage filled with every box I have ever received from AG to help protect them. Dani

Ya...we live in an older house and since they take up so much room they have the basement pretty much to themselves. It gets dusty fast down there and the shelves are open on all sides except for the back where they are mounted on the wall. I really want custom glass shelves that cover all directions but that got a definite no from the parents (too expensive and I understand) I'm past the stage of playing with them but I do like rearranging their stuff and making the displays on the shelves. I just wish there was an easier way to keep stuff from getting on them. I appreciate the comments!!!!

You might be able to find a pretty inexpensive china-cabinet or cupboard or bookcase, with glass doors, at a thrift store.

Unless you plan on selling them in the near future to make a profit I see them as playable collectibles. Your dolls may not stay "mint" but they will be much more enjoyable to you as a result of keeping them in the open. I have made MUCH space for my dolls and recently bought a stacking and snaptogether storage box that is techncally for ornaments but to put their outfits in. shh! I also bought the smaller sidekick set for storing ribbon spools to put their accessories in. I got them at BedBath&Beyond. Ash.
